This course discusses topics in economic research and their applications. The course objective is to expose students to different fields in economics and the approaches to research in each field, and to enable students to learn how to conduct research and write a paper in economics. The course is taught jointly by a number of faculty members in the Department of Economics and by two graduate student instructors (GSIs). The course consists of lectures, required readings, a set of short weekly assignments, a computer-based replication exercise or alternative assignment to be approved in advance by your GSI, and a research paper of 20-25 pages length (in lieu of a final exam).
