Rear Admiral Finn Ronne was a third generation Antarctic explorer.
He made four exploratory trips to the region southwest and south
of Alexander Island to determine and map the coastline region
in the Pacific quadrant in Palmer Land, Antarctica. Captain Ronne
was a long-time resident of Pittsburgh and a personal friend of
Raymond Simboli.
This painting was part of the collection of the 100 Friends of
Pittsburgh, and disappeared from the Fort Pitt School in
East Liberty in 1977. A reward is offered for information leading
