This course discusses topics in economic research with real-world applications. The objective is to expose students to different approaches to research in economics and how they influence policy. The course is taught jointly by a number of faculty members in the Economics Department and by two acting instructors. This spring the course discusses international finance, fiscal policy and macroeconomics, law and economics, and labor economics. The course consists of 42 hours of lectures, required readings, a set of short weekly assignments, two computer-based replication exercises and a research paper of 20-25 pages length (in lieu of a final exam).
