Economics Wireless Access

AirBears service should be available in the lounge, classrooms and section rooms on the 6th floor, and core rooms on the 5th floor. Exact coverage depends on the local building architecture, the sensitivity of your network card, and your proximity to an access point.

To connect to AirBears, set your wireless card to use no encryption, and open any web page to get the AirBears login. You will need your CalNet ID to authenticate. The SSID will be 'AirBears'. If you cannot get the AirBears login, try an address of http://1.1.1.1 . If you can see the AirBears access point with your wireless card, but are unable to get the login page, check the TCP/IP properties for your wireless card. It must be set to Dynamic Addressing (DHCP) to work.

Connections should be possible in all the Economics 5th and 6th floor core spaces, 639, and Peixotto Room. Offices in the periphery of the building are not guaranteed connections (non-student space was not covered by the terms of the grant for the equipment), however many offices should be able to make a connection. There are access points on floors above and below ours which may be accessible.

There are some private access points in the building. You will (probably) not be able to make a connection through these points.

People with laptops who have registered their CalNet ID with the department system administrators can connect to their Windows workspace and department printers. Details can be found in the Park Avenue laptop page.
