Donations and Support
As you may know, Cal's Department of Economics, your department, has recently been ranked third in the world by US News and World Report, and is the only public university ranked in the top 10. Maintaining this level of excellence, while competing with other better-funded private universities — for both students and faculty — is currently one of our greatest challenges. Economics cannot afford to depend on its past accomplishments, but must strive daily to remain at the cutting edge.
We are most grateful to our alumni and friends for their generous gifts to our existing funding initiatives. During 2006-07, the Department is turning its attention to a much-needed area of support: graduate student fellowships, training grants, and travel funds, among others. For the next few years, Economics is prioritizing fundraising in this specific area, although we are delighted to accept gifts to our other existing funds. In anticipation, we have created a "Graduate Student Support Fund in Economics" which will begin accepting donations early in the new year. Look for more information on this and other graduate student support initiatives on this website and in the Spring 2007 issue of The Econ Exchange.
You may always choose to give online by clicking the golden bear paw below and selecting the Department of Economics. Donations via the University Relations website will go directly to the Centennial Fund, which already supports graduate students, among other projects. You will also find a donor envelope in each Econ Exchange issue, for another option.
Once again, to those of you who have already donated, a huge thanks and a
mention in the Econ Exchange. For those of you considering making a donation, please
do not hesitate to contact us with any questions at alumni@econ.berkeley.edu. Thank
you. Go Bears!
Give to Economics at Cal!
