Peer Advisors

Peer advisors are junior & senior Econ majors who volunteer their time to complement the undergraduate advising services by sharing their knowledge of and experience with lower division requirements and upper division classes, experience with student groups on campus, preparation for life beyond the B.A., and use of various campus resources.
Peer advisors can be reached at

Hi, I'm Eileen, a sophomore starting my second semester as an Econ peer advisor. I fulfilled all the major requirements in a short time period and applied to the Econ major as a freshman. Last summer I worked as a research assistant overseas, and I'm hoping to specialize in behavioral economics after my undergraduate degree. I'd love to share my academic experiences with you, or help with schedule planning and other concerns you might have. I'm also President of Itch to Stitch, the newest crafts club at Cal, so feel free to approach me with crafts-related questions - but preferably not during my advising hours!

Hello, my name is Meng and I'm a fourth year Econ major and Stat minor. It's not easy to decide on a major- starting from computer science, then contemplated about applied math and finally decided on Economics and Statistics. That's why we are here to make sure that you don't take any unnecessary detours. Ask us about anything, whether it's about what class to take, how to study for an upcoming test, or what to do after graduation? Peer advisors are an excellent resource; we'll share our personal thoughts and experiences on classes. So don't hesitate to stop by Evans to chat. I'm looking forward to meeting you all. Go Bears!

Hi there! My name is Shelly. I am really excited to be on the peer advisor team and to meet all of you! As a third year economic major, I find a great amount of flexibility and possibilities in terms of schedule planning. That means we often need to make choices, such as taking interesting classes, whether in or outside the economic department, while fulfilling the major requirements. Other choices might go as far as whether to double major and to prepare for career with supplemental courses. Feel free to come by if you feel indecisive or need more information. I would be more than happy to answer any question and share my experience. Look forward to meeting you soon!

Hey Cal students! My name is Jessica and I am a fourth year double majoring in Econ and Film. Here at Berkeley the Econ department (indeed, the university as a whole) is very large and can seem quite daunting to navigate. But never fear! The first step you can take to help yourself out is to talk to other students about their experiences as Econ majors--and THAT is precisely what Econ peer advisors are here for. On a personal note, my economic interests lie mostly in the social aspects of the discipline, and as you can tell from my profile, I also have a whole separate realm of academic interests, which lie in the world of Film Studies. So please feel free to come talk to me about Economics--or not Economics! I'd be happy to listen and help you out.
